Lilac and Salmon Clouds
Updated: Jan 8, 2022

1.
The full moon chases the setting sun
chasing
through peaks of lilac
and salmon clouds.
Such gentle beauty
reminds this brute
of the power one can conspire
to fuel an abundant fire
and yet also
the ableness of soft lustre
to fade into nothing.
2.
Without words, I have been
since kissed by the devil,
worrisome, I have been
should my pen or tongue ever fail truth.
Nature's decree
-
be dealt with reality
for ineffable hopes
be illusions of the naive
and unrequited reverence
deserves no thought of treachery
for even the prized fruit
born out of many dormant seasons
cannot
be preserved.
3.
Consider, presently
my soul has shriven the mind
t'was not the transmission of disease
or foolish love
nor
the birth of my interloping being.
Rain will fall
when
it
rains,
and my dear stars
will be
my light
when I discern them.
