A Sleepless Night

Now
out of bed.
The sky still dark,
the world standing still.
I hear no distant cars
I see no headlights across the hill
Only magpies
whispering an early welcome for the coming sun.
I could be sleeping
I should be sleeping
but in these small hours of morning,
I'm wide awake because of you.
How torturous,
no presence here in body
only your presence in my mind.
Since your delicate soul touched me
that magical evening,
I've been charmed
I ponder about you night and day.
Relaying sweet memories
wondering in infinite tides
I sit on the lounge with a pot of coffee,
the sky now faintly blue and orange.
My heart grew fond in my sleepless night,
I ask myself
When will I see you next?
